I originally began my undergraduate career at UC Davis as an English major with aspirations of attending law school. Halfway through my Sophomore year, I was medically diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism, which had a significant negative impact on my health and affected every aspect of my life. It was during this time where I was referred to a Registered Dietitian in order to assist me in managing my diagnosis through the aid of nutrition alongside my treatment. Although initially, incorporating nutrition into my life was just a means to feel normal again, after working with a dietitian for over a year, I became interested in the other practical applications of nutrition in improving health and well-being, which eventually led to switching my area of study to Clinical Nutrition.
Since beginning to study nutrition at UC Davis, I have volunteered in various areas, including public health, in-patient care, and research. My experiences in these fields while concurrently applying the nutrition principles I've learned in classes to improve my own life has fostered a continually growing passion for the field of dietetics and nutrition.
